Meet Our Team

The Genetics & Risk Assessment Center is the only one of its kind in the area. Services offered include genetic counseling and testing for hereditary cancers.

The Center for Women’s Health at the South Bend Campus offers a comprehensive breast health program.

Here, women care for women, offering services including:

• Low dosage digital mammography
• Range of diagnostic procedures, including aspirations and core biopsies under ultrasound and stereotactic.
• Breast health awareness
• Educations resources

The Mobile Medical Unit, a 40-foot clinic on wheels, provides advanced breast health services on the go, including digital mammography. Our Nurse Practitioner on the MMU provides clinical breast exams as well as breast health education.

Patient Navigator services are provided free of charge. The role of the Patient Navigator is to assist patients and families through the entire care process.

Our staff includes breast form and bra fit specialists, certified compression garment fitters and bra & breast prostheses.

The Women’s Task Force, an all-volunteer group comprised of women who are also cancer survivors, works to implement local programs that promote prevention, awareness and early detection of cancer.

Their initiatives include:

• Secret Sisters Society Mammogram Fund
• Annual Pap-A-Thon
• Support Groups, including the Bosom Buddies & Young Survivors

Weekly Breast Cancer Forums bring together the most sought after and expert physicians and specialists in our community. Since 1993, SJRMC and Memorial Hospital have jointly sponsored these cancer forums.

A typical agenda includes case review and open discussion of four to five patients and their treatment options. Patient may be invited based on physician request.

The Oncology Inpatient Unit is located on the sixth floor of the South Bend Campus. The goal of our team is to provide excellent care and management of the cancer, its treatments and side effects, to allow the patient the highest quality of life.
